Scheduling, Organization & Accountability
Updated August 2023
My method for supporting high school students taking online courses in BC involves creating custom timelines and weekly checklists for your child based on your child's goals for completion of each course.
Not everyone wants to work September to January, or September to June on each course and so I create custom timelines that take into account the student's own schedule, goals, family holidays and what is required in the assignments themselves. For example, although Moodle does have a timeline function, it assumes that every student will work straight through Winter and Spring breaks. This may not be the case in your family, and so I can help before your child starts to get behind!

We will build your checklist to suit your child's needs and preferences!
From these timelines, I break them down and provide a weekly checklist in whatever looks and feels best for your student. This both helps them to get to know their own organizational style, and gives them the confidence in knowing that if they get everything done on the list that week, they'll be on track. If life happens and they aren't able to work on school one week, I can then adjust the timeline to take that into account without having to add additional stress and anxiety about catching up on everything the following week.
I also provide support, suggestions and ideas when it comes to completing assignments within the courses. Maybe they aren't quite understanding the instructions, then I'm that teacher they can quickly ask!
By getting to know your teen, I can also help to provide support and accountability so that they can discover keys to their own learning styles. I can be that support teacher that they quickly ask for suggestions, or to translate the assignment instructions, without waiting days and days for the online course teacher to respond.
You and your teen also need to know if there are trends or common issues when completing assignments and tasks, and I can be that person to notice and bring it up in a supportive and gentle way. From there we can work together to see what might be the cause and come up with a solution.

By being part of the Scheduling, Organization & Accountability program, we can reduce friction between you and your child, as I am there to help keep them on track, field questions and offer suggestions. I can also bring up issues before they arise.
Having these timelines and a weekly plan also will help you as a parent stay connected with your child, even if you don't quite understand the course content.
I often have availability to bring on new students into this program throughout the school year and summer. Check for availability updates here throughout the year.
Fees
Each student and family's needs are different as far as what is needed, and the time I am committing on a weekly basis. I record each of the hours (or parts of hours) that I work with your student, and bill once or twice a month depending on what we arrange.
The hourly rate is $57, so monthly can range from about $120 - $265. The first month will also include the time needed to set up each individualized course timeline which generally takes between 1 - 2 hours per course.
Payments via EFT receive an additional 3% discount. Payment is accepted by Email Money Transfer (EFT) as well as Credit Card/Apple Pay/Google Pay through the Stripe platform.

Many students benefit from getting some help or guidance in some of their courses too. We can combine this program with the Tutoring/Coaching program too!
For online school students we have the flexibility to combine tutoring/coaching in their courses, along with the weekly checklists and accountability! It can be a perfect mix to give your child the best chance at reaching their goals this year, without you having to always be on their case about finishing schoolwork!
By combining both programs I can offer a discounted rate on the Tutoring/Coaching program as well! Want more info on Tutoring/Coaching? Click the button below.

How to Register
When bringing on new students, I send a form where I can learn more about your family, what your student needs and make sure that it is something I am able to offer.
Then, I will set up a meeting (either online or over the phone) where you, your child, and I can get to know each other, find out what your goals are for your courses, and in what ways I can help. I will then set aside time to create the individual timelines for each of the courses, and generally the following week I'm able to send your first Weekly Checklist.
