Montessori Bead Board: The making of...

Here is the board being drilled

Well, I decided to take the Wood and Drill route in making my bead board.  Here are the pictures on how it went.  I first started with two 1 foot squares of 1/4' fibreboard and made a grid 1" x 1" (yes, I still think in Imperial!) on one of them, leaving an inch on two sides and two inches on the alternate sides to allow for the extra holes to put the number strips.  The other square will be for the bottom, and will be glued to the holey one once it is drilled and sanded.

Then, because the fibreboard was warped a little, to glue it together we sandwiched it between some 2 x 4's and screwed it down.  Then, let it dry for a day or so.

When it came out, it was nice and flat, however the glue had pushed up into the holes, so I took an exacto knife and cut the extras out.

After some paint, here is the final product!!  A very easy project!  in all, it didn't take long, about 10-20 minutes a day and I could have done it in two days, but as we were busy with other house projects it took me about three.
