Well, it's a bit of a waiting game to see what will happen come the start of school! I'm not sure what to expect either, and so for now I won't be taking on any new students until I get my current ones settled and underway, in whatever mode/method that may be. My hope would be to have things sorted out by the end of September, and to know if I am able to start working with some new students. However, this is only an educated guess based on my previous Septembers, and as we all know, this one will look a little different in many ways! So, alas.... more lessons on flexibility and pivoting continue :) In the meantime, here are some handy websites where you can check what is going on locally and provincially! It is also my experience that many organizations update their Facebook pages on a more regular basis than their websites (myself included), so you may want to check out those links first! Also, for some lightheartedness, look at who was outside my office earlier this week when I was leaving just before it got dark!! Aren't they CUUUUUUUTE?!?!

I am starting down the road of re-opening under these new circumstances, so that in the future I'll be able to adapt to the changing situations.
By the fall I hope to be able to offer some in-person sessions. Before that can happen there are protocol and policies that need to be developed, as well as addressing the physical aspects of my office setup. At the moment I have started to connect with my current clients. Being creative to find ways I can arrange and carry out effective and helpful online sessions is my first goal! I want to be able to create online sessions that are as close to my in-person sessions as possible so that I can keep the same atmosphere whether we're online or in person. However, I also need to be able to do this on a variety of platforms, as not every family has access to the same technology! Problem solving at its best Therefore, you will understand that I will not be taking on new clients until I have tested and tried out a variety of ways and methods of working with my clients. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me by the following methods: Email - momentumlearningcentre@gmail.com, Messenger - http://m.me/momentumlearningcentre Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/momentumlearningcentre and I will do the best to answer your questions or make suggestions! Our situation, both in education and life, has been changing week to week and I fully expect this to continue. The local school district, and all your wonderful teachers will be spending the next while contacting their families on an individual basis and planning how best to encourage and support learning in each of their students.
I think it is important to allow those changes and transitions to happen, and allow students and their families to discover a routine under these changing circumstances. This will take time, and that is normal and expected in this unprecedented situation. Therefore I am going to allow some time as well to learn myself what is happening in the education community before I discover how best I can apply my creativity and enthusiasm for learning to help my clients and the community. 🌿Current Clients - I have sent you another email update :) 🌿EBUS Invigilation (testing) Students - According to the EBUS website, testing protocols may change depending on the course, so please check each individual course page on or after April 8th. 🌿New Clients - At the moment, I am not taking on any new tutoring clients. Please stay tuned to this page, or my website www.momentumlearning.ca for new information and updates as they come! The local school district is currently on Spring Break, and they indicated that they would be starting to develop a plan near the end of next week. Teachers will then go back to the schools (without students) on March 30th and plans will be able to develop from there. Once they get things in motion, then I too will be able to figure out how to best help my students!
🌿Current Clients - Please check your emails :) I will re-assess things on April 5th, and then go from there! 🌿EBUS Invigilation (testing) Students - Please read this email here https://ebus.ca/ebus-academy-amends-invigilation-policy/ 🌿New Clients - Until I get my current clients settled, which will depend upon what happens in the local school district, I will not know if I will have room to take on new tutoring students. Most likely my programs and method of delivery will change as well, so please stay tuned to to my Facebook page for any most recent updates I'm a bit late sharing these pictures, but I'm still thoroughly enjoying the new look!
The 2018-2019 school year ended with tired walls and a tired orangy floor.... time for an office renovation! This is how I spent most of my summer.... painting, adding new flooring and trim (thanks to my talented other half), re-organizing, purging and throwing out! The result, a more modern room that appears to have more floor space! My students are loving the lighting choices and when they come in, switch whichever lights they want on :D Plus, I'm so happy I have my standing desk as now we don't have to sit all the time either! |
